Do you ever end up with students that you were prepped to
teach? My teacher was absent yesterday. My colleagues
and I decided to keep our students together who tend to have behavioral
outburst when their schedule is changed (transitioning). After the students went
through their morning routine, we created an ITDY project. In honor of Black History Month, we had
students color a page from www.doodle-art-alley.com.
We
then had students identify certain letters and count them. Then, they wrote sentences to reflect what
they found. While this may seem as
though it was a simple activity, this project encompassed the following
standards:
CCSS.ELA.-Literacy.WK.2
CCSS.ELA.-Literacy.WK.8
CCSS.ELA.-Literacy.RF.K.1.D
CCSS.ELA.-Literacy.L.K.1.F
CCSS.Math.Content.K.CC.A.3
CCSS.Math.Content.K.CC.B.4(A-C)
CCSS.Math.Content.K.CC.C.6
CCSS.Math.Content.K.MD.B.3
The level of difficulty could also be increased by specifying
particular colors that certain letters should be colored in.
Check out some works samples from 2 of my students. I am very proud of them.
